Situated in a thicket of century-old trees, and overlooking a jaw-dropping view of the Santa Barbara coastline-- was an empty pool house and large flagstone terrace. Our clients handed us the keys and asked for a sumptuous oasis in return.
We immediately began creating an indoor/outdoor living area that focused on comfort and style. White denim was triple washed for super-soft slipcovers, a massive window seat with built-in storage was designed for afternoon napping, and sun-resistant fabrics inspired by the blue-green of the pool were fashioned into a myriad of cushions and pillows. Salvaged patio furniture was stripped and painted, and recycled terra cotta pots were filled with fragrant lavender, geranium, and trailing bougainvillea. We scoured local antique shops and flea markets to find muted Indian prints, whimsical accents and vintage accessories to add a personal touch. A Moroccan mirror inlaid with shell and brass was hung center stage-- adding new reflection to the tranquil poolside haven.
